“What Is A Fab Lab?”
Innovators & cutting-edge technology come together under one roof to form a Fab Lab – a fabrication laboratory.
Fab Labs grew out of the class “How To Make (Almost) Anything” taught by Neil Gershenfeld at MIT in 2001.
There are more than 88 Fab Labs in the US & Canada – more than 432 total in the world.
Fab Labs provide free access to the public, creating a global community of learners, technologists, researchers, makers, innovators.
Common equipment and processes allow local and global collaboration. Project files and documentation can be sent across borders for easy project replication.
Fab Labs facilitate collaboration to turn ideas into new products, and to find solutions to global challenges.
