Now available everywhere you go!
The Fab Lab Network is an open, creative community of fabricators, artists, scientists, engineers, educators, students, amateurs, professionals, of all ages located in more than 149 countries in approximately 2,000 Fab Labs. From community based labs to advanced research centers, Fab Labs share the goal of democratizing access to the tools for technical invention. This community network is an extension of fablabs.io and is simultaneously a manufacturing network, a distributed technical education campus, and a distributed research laboratory working to digitize fabrication, promoting the next generation of manufacturing and personal fabrication.
This platform started as part of the FABxLive Event as a way to engage and interact during the online conference, but due to its success, we have opened up the opportunity for all the member of the Fab Lab Network to be able to connect, create, and interact in a more direct way with all.
Why you should join us-
Our FabLab Network platform will allow us to share, contribute, promote and interact with each other everywhere you go. We encourage you to join today, create your profile, set your expertise in order to connect with other members through live chats, participate in different groups, create events/activities/workshops and share them with the network.
What is a Fab Lab?
Fab Lab is the educational outreach component of MIT’s Center for Bits and Atoms (CBA), an extension of its research into digital fabrication and computation. A Fab Lab is a technical prototyping platform for innovation and invention, providing stimulus for local entrepreneurship. A Fab Lab is also a platform for learning and innovation: a place to play, to create, to learn, to mentor, to invent. To be a Fab Lab means connecting to a global community of learners, educators, technologists, researchers, makers and innovators- -a knowledge sharing network that spans 100 countries and 24 time zones. Because all Fab Labs share common tools and processes, the program is building a global network, a distributed laboratory for research and invention.
