Each year, members of over 1,000 Fab Labs worldwide come together to share, discuss, collaborate and create communities around the different local and global interests related to digital manufacturing, innovation and technology, the meeting event is Fab 13. This year will be the XIII International Meeting of Fab Labs in Santiago de Chile, and “Fabricating Society” will be its central theme. Chile has been classified as a prosperous developing country, but there are still many gaps in the strategic dimensions that make the process of building a developed society a challenge. Fab 13 Santiago 2017 has established three objectives: to present successful projects that generate a high social impact, to position Chile as a global axis for innovation and entrepreneurship and to strengthen Latin America as a region focused on social development.
