We have been working with the Fab Lab network for many years now and have put together a program called School Fab Lab, which provides schools with everything they need to teach students how to fabricate almost anything. Fab Labs are rapidly growing and now have over 800 labs in 78 countries.
Simone Amber and Nader Shaterian hosted this event over two days in Brooklyn New York, explaining how this is going to impact the future of education and why educational institutions need this in their curriculum.
The feedback has been fantastic so far from those who attended, as they can see the potential that the School Fab Lab can help in STEAM education. Using virtual reality to engage the youth in an impactful and meaningful way has shown great results for longer attention spans and greater retention of the information.
School Fab Lab is a project-based, integrated education program that focuses on digital design, digital fabrication and robotics. We deliver the program through three main components: teacher training, online platform and machines. The online platform provides students and teachers space for learning and collaboration both locally and with the global Fab Network using video conferencing.
