Bellevue, Nebraska – Gross Catholic High School’s robotics team finished second in the alliance division of the World Robotics Competition in Beijing, China, partnered with a Chinese team
The team arrived in Beijing Aug. 20. Throughout the five-day conference, the team competed in scrimmages and tournament matches.
In the qualifying round, teams were partnered together at random. Gross Catholic was often partnered with Chinese students and communicated via translators.
“It was really unusual to do something really familiar but in a totally foreign environment,” Gross’ robotics coach Steve Hamersky said.
